Ponniyin Selvan 2 made Rs 32 crore on Friday with 59.94% Tamil occupancy, 10.20% Hindi occupancy, and 33.23% Malayalam occupancy, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Manobala Vijayabalan, a film trade analyst, observed, “Good opening day for #PonniyinSelvan2 at the Tamil Nadu Box Office. The movie beat #Varisu to get the SECOND-best opening of the year in the state. Varisu, starring Thalapathy Vijay, earned Rs 26.5 crore on its first day of sales in India.
The movie’s first part—which is a film version of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel of the same name—had a huge opening when it was released in September 2022. With a worldwide gross of Rs. 80 crores, it had the largest opening weekend ever for a Tamil movie. In total, it earned more than Rs 500 crore worldwide at the end of its theatrical run.
