Mumbaikar, the Hindi remake of the 2017 hit Tamil film Maanagaram, will start streaming for free on Jio Cinema from June 2. The thriller Directed by renowned cinematographer-filmmaker Santhosh Sivan stars Vikrant Massey in the lead role. Tamil Superstar ‘Makkal Selvan’ Vijay Sethupathi plays the role of Munishkanth from the Tamil version, alongside Tanya Maniktala, Ranveer Shorey, Sachin Khedekar, Sanjay Mishra, Hridhu Haroon and others in pivotal roles. Four people are intertwined in the city of Mumbai.

Jio Cinemas on Thursday released the first big teaser of the action-packed Mumbaikar, which focuses heavily on Vijay Sethupathi’s character. Tamil cinema goers who have seen Maanagaram will love to see National Award winning actor Munishkanth’s role as unique in the 2017 original. Most searched names in Tamil cinema after blockbuster hits like Kaithi (2019), Master (2021), and Vikram (2022). The Mumbaikar teaser gives the audience a glimpse of Vijay Sethupathi amidst the chaos along with the rest of the film’s characters.

A description provided by Jio Cinema says, “Mumbaikar narrates the journey of the main characters who suddenly come together in a series of events that take place over a 24-hour period, and then change the characters’ perspective towards the city and life. The story, the film promises to take the audience on an amazing journey and witness the lesser-known sides of India’s city of dreams.” Produced by HR Pictures, Mumbaikar was initially touted as Vijay Sethupathi’s Bollywood debut, but was later delayed as the actor appeared as a Special Action Force officer in the black comedy crime thriller web series Farzi, released on Amazon Prime Video.
