A few theatres in Chennai started showing The Kerala Story a day after the Supreme Court of India ordered the Tamil Nadu government to offer protection to theatres screening the divisive movie. It is unknown if theatres in other cities in the state are acting in a similar manner.
According to Tiruppur Subramaniam, head of the Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners Association, “To my knowledge, no theatre in Tiruppur (where he is situated) is screening the movie. The film has not been purchased by distributors themselves.
Hindi films rarely find clients in Tamil Nadu in general. There haven’t been many successful Hindi films here in the recent two years.
