Tamil Nadu has informed the Supreme Court that it has no control over theatre owners who decide to halt showings of the movie “The Kerala Story” within two days of its debut due to a number of factors, including low crowd response.
The lack of well-known stars, poor performance, and poor audience reaction led to criticism of the movie, and multiplex owners decided to stop screening the movie on May 7, according to the State.
The Hindi film was in fact released on May 5 in 19 multiplexes, according to the State. Tamil Nadu government asserted that it had no influence over the choice of theater owner to withdraw the movie.
