The Kerala Story will become “tax-free” in the state of Uttar Pradesh, the state administration said on Tuesday morning. A government spokesperson added that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his Cabinet colleagues will probably watch the movie at a special screening.
Adityanath stated in a tweet that “The Kerala Story will be made tax-free in Uttar Pradesh.”
A day after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a ban on the movie in the state, alleging a threat to law and order, the UP government decided to make The Kerala Story tax-free. Banerjee instructed Chief Secretary Harikrishna Dwivedi to impose a nationwide ban after a news conference at the state government headquarters, declaring, “The film won’t be shown in any hall in Bengal.”
