Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) using spikes, net to deter pigeons from tracks

The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) uses spikes and nets to deter pigeons from landing on the tracks since bird droppings can cause metro trains to stop.

Bird droppings can cause train parts to wear away and have an impact on the traction system’s power supply. Power lines can break as a result of bird strikes.

To deter pigeons, the CMRL has placed spikes and netting on the rooftops of metro stations and trains.

In order to scare away pigeons, the CMRL has also placed ultrasonic devices. Pigeons find the gadgets’ high-pitched sound waves irritating even if they are inaudible to humans.

Additionally, in an effort to prevent pigeons from building nests close to trains and metro stations, the CMRL is collaborating with regional bird conservation organisations.

According to the CMRL, it is committed to giving passengers a secure and enjoyable journey. The CMRL uses spikes, nets, and ultrasonic equipment as part of its efforts to guarantee passenger safety and train efficiency.
