Chief minister of Tamil Nadu announced a 4% increase in Dearness Allowance for government employees and teachers.

Chief Minister MK Stalin on wednesday approved a 4% increase in Deraness Allowance (DA) for 16 lakh government workers, teachers, retirees, and family pensioners,  which will take effect subsequently from April 1.

The decision will result in an additional expense to the state exchequer of Rs. 2,366.82 crore.

In spite of the debt load, the revenue loss brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the financial problems carried over from the previous administration, according to an official release issued today, the DMK government has been gradually honouring the pledges made to the government employees and teachers.

The press statement also stated that the administration would consistently and going forward take into account the demands made by teachers and government workers. The employees’ DA rise would be announced on line with that of the union government’s staff.
