As the month of May began, several districts in Tamil Nadu have been experiencing intense heatwave conditions. Due to the changes in weather patterns, the state has also been witnessing heavy rainfall in some parts over the past few days, ranging from light to heavy showers.
Furthermore, the Agni Nakshatram, a star associated with the summer solstice, will begin on May 4 and last until May 29. During this period, the weather department has warned that Tamil Nadu is likely to experience very high levels of humidity for the next 25 days.
As a precaution, the authorities have advised people to avoid going out during peak hours to prevent heatstroke and dehydration. This is due to the fact that the heat during this time can be quite severe, according to meteorological officials.
Meanwhile, a new cyclonic depression is expected to form in the Bay of Bengal on May 6, which may cause a drop in temperature in coastal areas.
