About 66 people in districts like Villupuram and Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu are currently undergoing treatment in hospital after drinking liquor. People’s Welfare Minister M. Subramaniam has met and interviewed by the media. He said that a total of 66 people are currently receiving treatment in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Jipmer, of which 55 have been admitted to Mundiambakkam Hospital.
He also said that arrangements have been made to provide special treatment to all those affected by the consumption of adulterated liquor and a special officer will be appointed to monitor it. Similarly, steps will be taken to monitor and control the methanol used for brewing alcohol, the minister said.
