The results of the Plus 2 public examination held in Tamil Nadu last March were released a few days ago. Many colleges are currently enrolling students. One has to spend several lakhs to enroll a son or daughter in college.
It has been reported that parents are selling old gold jewellery at the rate of around 10 to 12 kg per day to send their children to college in Coimbatore. Moreover, the Gold Jewellery Manufacturers Association said that in the last one week alone, there has been a turnover of around Rs 6 crore in the sale of these old jewellery.
