M. K. Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, met with the CEOs of companies from Singapore and pushed them to invest in the state by highlighting the welcoming climate for new businesses.
The Tamil Nadu government will host the Global Investors Conference in Chennai in January 2024, and Stalin has asked the CEOs to attend.
Stalin is visiting Singapore and Japan on official business to solicit capital for Tamil Nadu and to extend invitations to the World Investors Conference.
In welcoming Stalin, Singapore’s Minister for Trade Relations S. Iswaran said that Tamil Nadu has begun an ambitious strategy to grow its economy to $1 trillion by 2030, with a focus on developing its manufacturing and green economy sectors.
Iswaran stated, “Singaporean companies are eager to realise this vision and participate in Tamil Nadu’s growth story” while speaking at an investment conference on Wednesday to encourage commerce between India and Singapore. The State Nodal Agency for Investment Promotion, Guidance Tamil Nadu, and Singapore’s Hi-B have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to allow Hi-B to establish its first manufacturing facility in India.
