As of Today, May 16, 17 people had died as a result of the tragedy involving the spurious liquor in Tamil Nadu. So far twelve in Villupuram , five in chengalpattu fatalities have occurred .
Accordng to sources three patients are receiving treatment at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) and 37 persons receiving treatment in Villupuram.
As many as 55 arrack vendors were seized on May 15 as a result of raids that were carried out throughout the Villupuram district. MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, visited those who had been admitted to the hospital after ingesting spurious alcohol in Villupuram and declared that the CB-CID would now be handling the case’s investigation. He then paid visits to those who had been admitted to a hospital in Chengalpattu after consuming spirious alcohol.
MK Stalin ordered the suspension of the deputy superintendent of police (PEW) Palani, superintendent of police (SP) Shreenatha Villupuram, and the deputy superintendent of police of PEW Chengalpattu. The SP of Chengalpattu, A Pradeep, has been transferred and put on a required waiting list.
