Two men who allegedly drank alcohol in a bar in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, have died. 22 people are thought to have died earlier this week from consuming industrial methanol.
The two men have been identified as Vivek, a driver, and Kuppasami, a fisherman.
The existence of cyanide was established by forensic analysis of samples taken from the bodies of the two men, while methanol, a lethal mixture produced by illegal brewers, was ruled out. Methanol, which is utilised in industry, smells like alcohol.
