According to the weather office, a low-pressure region that formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal on Monday is forecast to intensify into a cyclone and move closer to the coasts of Bangladesh and Myanmar later this week.
The low-pressure region is anticipated to become a depression by Tuesday evening and then intensify into a cyclonic storm the following day, according to Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of the India Meteorological Department, during a news briefing.
The head of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dr. M Mohapatra warned that the storm forming in the Bay of Bengal might become a very severe cyclone with winds reaching up to 120 km/hour over the sea.
