According to jail officials, seven cops of the Tamil Nadu Special Police (TNSP), who were on duty in a Tihar prison cell when gangster Tillu Tajpuriya was fatally stabbed, have been suspended and will be sent back to Tamil Nadu. They are accused of acting like mute witnesses during the incident.

The alteration came a few days after Sanjay Beniwal, director general of Delhi Prisons, wrote to the Tamil Nadu Police requesting to take action against its staff.

A discussion was also held with TNSP officials over the alleged negligence of their staff, and during that meeting, they promised to take departmental action against their staff, according to a jail official.

According to a jail official, “The Tamil Nadu Police has now suspended seven of its staff and called them back.”

The TNSP provides security on the premises of Tihar Jail . According to the officials, the TNSP personnel were stationed in cell number 8, where the incident happened.

Tajpuriya was allegedly attacked while being carried away by security guards in front of them in a CCTV video from Tihar Jail that surfaced on social media.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, “Tajpuriya was allegedly attacked with homemade weapons by four members of the Gogi gang on Tuesday morning inside the high-security jail. But the video shows when the accused struck him again, he was still alive and being hauled away by the jail security guards.

According to the footage, the security personnel stood by and did nothing while the attackers continued to assault the mobster.
