In another last-ball thriller in the Indian T20 League on Tuesday night, the bottom-placed team defeated the league leaders. Delhi, led by David Warner, held Gujarat to a solid 130-run defence in Ahmedabad, earning just their third victory of the year while retaining their playoff hopes.

In Ahmedabad, David Warner selected to bat first after winning the toss. But Mohammed Shami showed up, taking a wicket off the first ball and returning Phil Salt. David Warner was out on one in the following over, and Shami maintained his onslaught by returning Rilee Rossouw, Manish Pandey, and Priyam Garg to bring Delhi to 23/5 in five overs. However, a late-order comeback helped Delhi post 130/8, a respectable total, with Axar Patel scoring 27, Aman Khan reaching 50, and Ripal Patel adding 23. Mohit Sharma also claimed two wickets in addition to Shami.

Gujarat also lost some early wickets and was reduced to 33/4 in 7 overs. Hardik Pandya, the captain, managed to hold down one end while scoring a half-century and reducing the number of needed runs from 12 to 33. In the 19th over, Rahul Tewatia hammered Anrich Nortje for three sixes, and 12 runs off six were required. Despite this, Ishant Sharma only gave up 6, and Delhi won the game by 5 runs to remain in the game.
