It was a one-man performance on Friday. MI elected to bat first, and openers Gill and Wriddhiman Saha got off to a solid start with a fifty-run partnership before Saha was sent back on a pitch that was patchy following the significant rain in Ahmedabad.

Shubman Gill, the opening batsman for the Gujarat Titans, scored a century on Friday against the five-time champion Mumbai Indians, which will likely go down as one of the best offensive displays this year. As the hosts (Gujarat Titans) sprinted to 233 for 3, their highest-ever total and the second-highest against MI in the whole IPL, Gill struck a record-breaking 129 off just 60 balls.

Following a six against each of Piyush Chawla, Kumar Kartikeya, and Akash Madhwal, Gill found his rhythm and went on a run of boundaries and sixes that carried him to his century off just 49 balls.

Before being bowled in the 17th over, he continued his hitting streak and added 29 more runs to the total on for 11 balls.
