MS Dhoni, arguably the best captain of his generation, has consistently offered encouragement to his Chennai Super Kings teammates. However, Dhoni referred to himself as a “annoying captain” when the CSK secured their place in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final by defeating the Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 1 on Tuesday. The ‘Thala’ had one wish for his teammates during the post-game awards ceremony as the squad prepared for the 16th edition of the T20 league’s championship game, especially for the fielders.
Dhoni disclosed how frequently he switches fields, which can be highly unpleasant for fielders, in an open interview with Harsha Bhogle after the game.
Dhoni said, however, he really wants his team to keep an eye on him since he won’t react if they miss a catch.
“You look at the wicket, and you keep modifying the pitch to match. I can be a really annoying captain; I constantly move the fielders by 2-3 feet. The only thing I ask of the fielders is that they keep an eye on me, and don’t expect a response from me if a catch is dropped,” he advised after the game.
