Meta owned messaging platform WhatsApp rolled out a new feature to support the same account on multiple phones. The feature has started rolling globally and will be available to everyone in coming weeks.
WhatsApp announced ” Today, we’re improving our multi-device offering further by introducing the ability to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple phones.”
The much-desired feature would enable users to attach their phones to up to four additional devices in the same way that they are linked to WhatsApp on web browsers, tablets, and desktops.
To ensure that calls, media, and personnel messages sent between linked phones are end-to-end encrypted, each linked phone connects to WhatsApp independently. In a news release, Whatsapp stated, “If your primary smartphone is inactive for a prolonged period, WhatsApp automatically log you out of all companion devices.
Messaging is made smoother by connecting phones as companion devices. For instance, a person may choose to check out of chats on one phone and sign in to another, picking up where they left off. Or If you own a small business, extra employees can now answer to customers directly from their phones using the same WhatsApp business account, the statement continued. WhatsApp is proposing an additional, more approachable method of connecting to companion devices.
