According to sources, paramilitary Rangers detained former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan on Tuesday outside the Islamabad High Court. The former prime minister has allegedly been “abducted from Court premises,” according to Fawad Chaudhry, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party spokesperson. Numerous ordinary individuals and lawyers have been tortured.

According to sources, as claimed Islamabad police, Khan has been detained in connection with claims that Al-Qadir Trust, controlled by the PTI chairman and his wife, received a land allocation from Bahria Town worth PKR 530 million. According to Chaudhry, Khan has been taken by unknown people to an unknown location. He further stated that the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court has asked the Secretary of the Interior and the IG police to appear in court within 15 minutes.

Since being removed from office by a no-trust vote in April of last year, Khan has been involved in a number of issues. He is now dealing with more than 140 cases involving terrorism, blasphemy, murder, violence, and inciting violence. He has, however, dismissed all of these incidents as political victimisation on the part of the ruling coalition.
