Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, will be appearing before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday for pre-arrest bail under heavy security as his party called for supporters to congregate nearby the court for a rally.

Authorities detained Mr. Khan on Tuesday in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust case after receiving a directive from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to investigate him for alleged corruption while he was present at Islamabad High Court.

The Islamabad High Court supported his arrest, but the Supreme Court on Thursday declared it illegal and ordered his release while directing police to put him under the protection of the Supreme Court and present him before the high court at 11 am.

In its orders, the court stated that the petitioner had to appear before the Islamabad High Court on May 12, 2023, at 11:00 am, for the hearing of his Writ Petition filed to contest the NAB proceedings against him in the Al-Qadir Trust Case.

Additionally, it instructed Mr. Khan to abide with the high court’s ruling on his petition.
