Atta Tarar, Pakistan’s Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has accused the RSS and BJP of instigating the violent protests that broke out in numerous Pakistani towns after the abrupt detention of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. During a press conference where he addressed the media on the violence in Pakistan, Tarar made the the shocking statement .

“Those who are committing vandalism and arson are people sent by the RSS and the BJP from India,” Tarar claims. He added that there had been celebrations following the incident from yesterday and that the BJP and RSS had distributed away sweets.

Khan was detained by Rangers outside the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday according to a warrant issued by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Al-Qadir Trust case, which sparked widespread unrest throughout Pakistan.

Following the PTI chief’s arrest, there were widespread protests, during which several police cars were set on fire and arson occurred.

Imran Khan, the former prime minister, was charged on Wednesday by an Islamabad court in the Toshakhana case. In this instance, Khan is accused of concealing the revenue from the sale of governmental gifts. The Election Commission filed the Toshakhana case against the former prime minister after he failed to disclose the money that he got through the sale of gifts acquired from foreign dignitaries.
